While taking some much needed rest at a dude ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, we encountered this throwback to a more rough and tumble time. Although he was just a cook/manure spreader, he envisaged much more for himself. One night, we found ourselves at the wrong end of a branding iron, and it was at that point that we agreed to give this amiable man in chaps the opportunity to be one of America's first virtual cowboys.
